Pressure Class: PN10 , PN12.5 , PN16, PN20, PN25
Technical Characteristics
An HDPE stub end with backing ring is a mechanical joint that connects high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes to other piping components or materials:
Purpose
Connects HDPE pipes to other piping components, such as pumps and valves, without the need for fusion equipment. It can also be used to join HDPE pipes to metal or other materials, or to create a section of HDPE pipe that can be disassembled.
Components
The HDPE stub end has one end that matches the HDPE pipe for a butt fusion connection, and the other end has a stub that provides structural support. A steel backing ring is added to allow bolting to a similar flanged end connection on another pipe.
Benefits
HDPE stub ends are cost effective and easy to assemble. They can also be used to create rotation points and make site working conditions easier.
Material
HDPE is a thermoplastic polymer that's lightweight, flexible, inexpensive, and corrosion resistant. It's often used for piping in a variety of applications, including pressure and non-pressure pipe, conduit, and drainage.
