In the application of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) materials and their pipe fittings, temperature changes are one of the key factors affecting their performance. Under high temperature conditions, HDPE materials will undergo thermal expansion, resulting in additional stress between the pipe and the fittings, which significantly increases the risk of leakage. Long-term exposure to high temperature conditions will accelerate the aging process of HDPE materials, mainly reflected in the depletion of antioxidants and the oxidation induction of polymers, which will directly reduce the mechanical properties and barrier properties of the materials. Relatively speaking, under low temperature conditions, the brittleness of HDPE materials increases, the impact resistance decreases, and it is more prone to damage under external forces. Therefore, when designing and installing HDPE pipeline systems, it is necessary to fully consider local climatic conditions and select suitable HDPE materials and fittings to ensure their stability and reliability under different temperature environments.

Ultraviolet radiation is also an important factor affecting the performance of HDPE butt welding fittings. Ultraviolet rays can destroy the chemical bonds inside the HDPE material, causing cracks, fading and aging on the surface of the material. This aging process not only reduces the mechanical properties of the material, but also weakens its chemical corrosion resistance, thereby increasing the risk of leakage. Therefore, when using HDPE butt welding fittings outdoors or in direct sunlight, appropriate protective measures should be taken, such as coating UV absorbers or setting up sunshade facilities, to extend their service life.

Chemical corrosion is another environmental factor that cannot be ignored. Although HDPE materials show good corrosion resistance to most chemicals, they may still suffer from chemical corrosion in certain environments such as strong acids, strong alkalis or certain organic solvents. This corrosion can cause holes, cracks or thinning on the surface of the material, thereby reducing its barrier properties and mechanical properties. Therefore, when selecting HDPE butt welding fittings, it is necessary to fully understand the chemical environment it will face and select materials with corresponding corrosion resistance to ensure its safety and reliability during use.

Soil and hydrological conditions may also affect the performance of HDPE butt welding fittings. In humid or saline-alkali environments, HDPE materials may be eroded by moisture and electrolytes, resulting in a decrease in material performance. In addition, the pH value and microbial activity of the soil may also have adverse effects on HDPE materials. Therefore, when designing and installing HDPE pipe systems, it is necessary to fully consider soil and hydrological conditions and select appropriate pipe burial depths and protective measures to ensure the long-term stability and safety of the pipe system.
