Keep Fittings Clean: Ensure that HDPE socket fusion fittings are stored in a clean environment to avoid contamination from dust, dirt, or other particulates. Prior to installation, inspect the fittings to confirm they are free from any debris or foreign materials that could compromise the integrity of the fusion joint.

Avoid Direct Sunlight: HDPE material can degrade when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from direct sunlight. Store fittings in a shaded area or within protective packaging that prevents UV exposure. This helps maintain the physical properties of the material and ensures the fittings perform as expected over their intended lifespan.

Maintain Proper Temperature: The physical characteristics of HDPE fittings can be affected by extreme temperatures. Store fittings in an environment with a stable, moderate temperature range, typically between 5°C and 35°C (41°F and 95°F). Avoid exposure to freezing temperatures or excessive heat, which can alter the material’s flexibility and fusion capabilities.

Handle with Care: During transportation and handling, avoid dropping or subjecting the fittings to mechanical stress that could cause cracks, deformities, or other forms of damage. Use appropriate lifting and handling equipment, and train personnel in proper handling techniques to minimize the risk of damage.

Use Protective Covers: Whenever possible, use protective covers or packaging designed for HDPE fittings to shield them from physical damage and environmental contaminants. This includes using plastic sheeting, bubble wrap, or other cushioning materials to safeguard the fittings during storage and transit.

Avoid Contact with Chemicals: Store HDPE fittings away from chemicals, solvents, or substances that could degrade the material. Ensure that the storage area is free from any hazardous substances that could come into contact with the fittings, as this can compromise their integrity and performance.

Store in a Dry Area: Moisture can lead to the development of mold or mildew, which can adversely affect the performance of HDPE fittings. Ensure that the storage area is well-ventilated and free from excessive humidity. Consider using dehumidifiers if necessary to maintain optimal storage conditions.
